About the Award
The Gold Ribbon Award recognizes schools that develop outstanding educational programs and practices, custom-tailored to the needs of their student population. Model programs and practices include standards-based activities, projects, strategies, and practices that schools have adopted during the transition to new academic content and performance standards. These programs and practices can be replicated by other local educational agencies to promote student success in all schools.
"These schools shine as bright beacons for others, putting forth an exemplary effort to ensure that every student is ready for 21st century college and careers."
- Tom Tolakson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction

The Educational Services team from the Sutter County Office of Education had the pleasure of going out on "validation visits" to learn more about each school's model program. These visits gave us the opportunity to see and hear about the impact these educators have on the children in their schools everyday, as they innovate and develop ways to meet all students' needs. Congratulations to all of the awardees and thank you for inspiring us!
